I have decided to combine this blog with my brand new blog, The Goddess Grove.  It’ll be easier to update one blog instead of two.  All previous posts, links, comments, etc. having to do with The Tarot Corner are there.  I may have to re-arrange things a bit, but I should have that done this week.

If you are looking for anything related to The Tarot Corner that you can’t find, or have any suggestions as to how I can make The Goddess Grove better, e-mail me at evephoenix77@gmail.com and I’ll point you in the right direction!

Gaia - The world

Gaia - The World

I just got my new Goddess Tarot yesterday, and these cards have a lot to say already!  I’m always struck by how appropriate the readings are to what’s already going on in my life – or in the world, for that matter.  I guess I shouldn’t be that surprised, but it still makes me happy.

This morning I drew Gaia – The World.  One day after Earth Day, and The Earth is still speaking to me.  I know I should listen every day.  It is nice to be gently reminded, however, that I should focus on something other than myself once in a while.  The World is bigger than just you, Gaia whispers.  It, and everyone in it, need healing year-round.  Focusing on and giving to others today is my goal.  I know people have been talking a lot about doing something for the planet and trying to live green.  That’s great, but I think if I also do something for the people living on the planet, it helps being here just a little nicer.

The Sun

The Sun - The Truth

On most mornings, I ask the question “What do I need to know today?”  I choose one of my decks, and draw a single card.  My current favorite deck is The Gothic Tarot of the Vampires.  It is steeped in the mythology of the vampire, and the art on the cards is very modern.  (I have been watching True Blood and The Vampire Diaries recently, and just saw the New Moon movie last week, so I guess that’s where my head is at right now.)

This morning, I had to report to jury duty for the third day in a row.  The card I drew was the one you see above.  The little white book that comes with the deck offers this: “Clarity, appreciation, understanding, looking for the truth beyond the surface of things.” Had I been selected to hear evidence in an actual case, this would have been very good advice.  As it turned out, I spent most of the day waiting around.  I puzzled over this card for a while afterwards, then I remembered something.  About an hour after I got to the courthouse, the case I was supposed to be on was settled.  The judge came down and explained it was partly because the jury – including me – was there, ready to go.  I did indeed get some clarity.  I had a new appreciation for my role, however randomly it came about, in the justice system.  I also understood that I was where I was supposed to be, even though it seemed on the surface, that I was wasting my time.

It never ceases to amaze me how appropriate these cards are if I’m open to their messages!  Do you have a particularly appropriate reading you did recently for yourself or someone else?  Leave a comment here, or e-mail me at evephoenix@thetarotcorner.net.

Looking For Spring

I, like many people, am tired of winter and all the snow.  Spring, please hurry!

It’s been a while since I posted.  I’ve been dealing with a lot of things that kept me from it.  Fortunately, I’m back on track and hope to get on a more regular schedule with my Tarot work.  I want to start posting profiles of the cards as I study them and interesting readings I do.  I’ll also do podcast episodes, but right now I’m aiming for every other week at the most.  They will consist of mini-profiles of the cards and maybe a topic or two and will probably be no longer than 30 minutes.  I may set up pages here for topics, such as cards, spreads, or decks, if I have a lot to say or if what I say generates a lot of discussion.  It might make them easier to find.

Right now, that’s the plan, such as it is.  If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please email me at evephoenix@thetarotcorner.net.  I promise I’ll reply promptly, and I thank you in advance for your support.

The Old and the New

I recently did a small ritual to observe the end of one year and the beginning of another.  For a while, I’d been thinking about a way to bring 2009 to a close and start 2010 off on a hopeful note.  I wasn’t looking for a magickal ritual, but a personal one,  just to take stock of where I’ve been and where I’m going.  What I found was the most powerful ritual is often the most simple.

In this episode, I talk about themed decks pros and cons of reading with them. I also talk briefly about two that I own – a Lord of the Rings deck and The Gothic Tarot of the Vampires.

I also ask this question: What do you look for in a deck?

Leave your response here or e-mail feedback@tarotcorner.net.  Thanks for listenting and for your support.

I’m in the process of archiving previous episodes and rebuilding the show notes as I have time.  Meanwhile, there’s a player off to the right-hand side of the page you can use to listen to previous episodes here.  You can also find The Tarot Corner on iTunes.

If you have any feedback for me about the show, topics you’re interested in, or just want to say “Hi,” you can reach me at feedback@thetarotcorner.net or at thetarotcorner on Twitter.
